Attempts to revive and green up the urbanized environment have long gone beyond creating city parks and balcony flower gardens. Architects seriously took up plant breeding. This year, at the international platform for assessing achievements of real estate professionals — the International Property Awards in London — the green building project in Taipei by the Aedas architectural bureau became the best among offices built in Asia.
Aedas employs professionals who come up with high-level projects, adapting them to the needs of specific cities. Lè Architecture project was designed by architect Andy Van, who saw his task in creating an "effective, interactive, and environmentally friendly" building for Earnest Development & Construction Corporation in Nangan. The egg-shaped form of the structure becomes a metaphor for the knowledge incubator and intellectual revival that is well-balanced with local architecture. Authors of the project were inspired by rounded shape of pebble, combining simplicity and elegance, while at the same time character and strength. In the dark, due to combination of unique light effects and glazing, the building looks like a precious stone.
In this 18-storeyed office center, located in immediate vicinity of the Jilong River and the main highway in Taipei, the concept of facade landscaping is used, as well as the strategy for minimizing energy needs, which helped him to obtain LEED gold certificate. In addition, vertical aluminum ribs and green microplantations on the western facade reduce internal temperature in the summer, helping to save energy on mechanical cooling.
The minimalistic light interior of the office was designed in a way to turn it into a single living organism, not only from the outside, but also inside. There are public spaces, a coffee house, a library, and rooms for brainstorming here.
