«Тема стенда – «Философская гостиная» – глубоко укоренена в нашей культуре, и вызывает множество самых разных ассоциаций. Однако, BATIMAT RUSSIA – профессиональная выставка, и если уж поднимать здесь тему философии, то, конечно, философии дизайна», - размышляет автор концепции Ирина Чун.
“Theme of the stand – Philosophical Living Room – is deeply rooted in our culture and evokes many different associations. However, BATIMAT RUSSIA is a professional exhibition, and if we bring up the subject of philosophy here, then, of course, it should be the philosophy of design,” says the author of the concept Irina Chun.
What is the space? How is form born out of emptiness? How are the creation of the world and the creative work of an artist connected? Reflections on these eternal themes inspired Irina Chun to create one of the most unusual and memorable stands at BATIMAT RUSSIA, with a furniture composition made by her own sketches. Its bizarre forms resemble volcanic lava, with remains of prehistoric monsters frozen in it, referring to the most ancient secrets of the universe.
In the center of the composition there are two massive armchairs stylized as fossilized dinosaur bones. They are made in such a way that the one who sits in them fills the very space that the living flesh of a reptile once filled, and thus the one who sits as if temporarily takes its form. Armchairs are half-turned to each other, as if inviting to a well-becoming conversation. Table top of the coffee table between the armchairs is made of a cut of simbircite – the Ural mineral which is about 120 million years old, having fiery streaks like lava streams. The chandelier, located in the center of the composition, resembles a giant stalactite with its free flowing lines.
With slightly rounded lines of the decorative panels, the room visually goes to an endless perspective, as if helping those who are sitting in the chairs to concentrate on the most important things.
The text on the wall is a quote from the Heart Sutra, one of the most profound literary monuments of Mahayana Buddhism, perhaps the closest to the eternal questions of being: “Form is emptiness, and emptiness is form. The emptiness is indistinguishable from form, the form is indistinguishable from emptiness; whatever is form is emptiness, whatever is emptiness is form...”
At the BATIMAT RUSSIA 2019 exhibition within the Integrated Solutions exposition Irina Chun presented an amazing combination of modern technologies and the philosophy of the past.
