Due to the major reform of the arbitration system in Russia and the innovations that have become a result of the adoption of the Federal Law 382 ‘On Arbitration’, all ideas about arbitration courts have radically changed. Currently, arbitration proceedings, in contrast to proceedings in commercial courts, have a number of significant advantages.

Since November 2017, only those arbitration institutions that have received special permission from the Government of the Russian Federation can consider arbitration disputes in Russia. On March 21, 2018, the National Association of Builders and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of arbitration. The agreement provides for the possibility of creating an independent specialized Dispute Resolution Board in construction.

Invited to discussion:

  • Mark V. Geller, Chairman of the Construction Disputes Resolution Board of the Arbitration Center of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, PhD.
  • Igor E. Vladimirov, Deputy Head of the Construction Disputes Resolution Board of the Arbitration Center of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
