The stand of designer Igor Kurkin at BATIMAT RUSSIA 2019 created a buzz. His main idea was that life is a cosmic second between birth and death, where the soul finds its embodiment. A lot of people get by, but only a few of them with a huge burning heart really leave a trace in your life and soul.
“Each of us at least once dreamed of making adjustments in our lives: to change something, forget about the past and start all over again. Each of us at least once thought about the meaning of existence and found the right answer, but everyday life quickly erased it from our memory. An individual is a beautiful and unique planet moving with others in an infinite universe of life. But sometimes you need space for solitude and reflection on your journey, for orbit correction. Images, sounds, shadows of the past and a feeling of the future. It’s time to slow down and think,” this is how Igor Kurkin, the author of the project, reflects on his concept, deeply and soulfully.
“I realized that my task was to create an art object at the construction exhibition. The main thing for me is everything! My task was to show myself, what I can do and how I see it. Of course, I want to be recognized. But I also wanted to make people pause to think while looking at our installations,” the designer notes. “I did not count on massive demand. The BATIMAT RUSSIA exhibition gives an opportunity to express yourself, perform your idea the way you want it to be. This is a unique and very vibrant experience. Unfortunately, very few people – approximately 10% of those who came to the stand, saw the many meanings built into it.”
Many manufacturers and suppliers were involved. In particular, the ARTVIVO Workshop (http://artvivo.ru/), Ekaterina Aksyonova-Chalenko made a unique sculptural Hawking lamp by Igor Kurkin’s design.
The unique wall covering that may be used as a projection screen was provided by Decorici, the Travertino, Chenille, Mou, Chic collections (www.decorici.ru).
The Planet sofa, designed by Igor Kurkin, was made by Sergey Korb (www.korbmebel.com).
Electrical equipment – sockets, switches, etc. were provided by Jung company, LS 990 series (www.jung.su).
