The concept of the stand by the graduates of the DETAILS Interior Design School – Anastasia Surtseva and Anna Zorina, who won first place in the competition previously announced together with the exhibition organizers, was implemented at BATIMAT RUSSIA 2019. The young designers presented a holistic interior of the designer’s kitchen studio.
The contestants – students and graduates of the DETAILS Interior Design School (www.details-moscow.ru) were offered to break stereotypes and develop a distinctive concept of a kitchen space. The products of partner companies were indicated to be used. Designers Anastasia Surtseva and Anna Zorina, in the opinion of Tatyana Rogova (director, co-founder and mastermind of the Details School) and Tatyana Onegina (head of the Integrated Solutions project of the BATIMAT RUSSIA international construction and interior exhibition), coped with the task perfectly.
The creative duet of designers was formed at the stage of preparation for the graduation project, which they presented together. During their studies and homework, the girls realized that the starting point of a design project, in their understanding, is the atmosphere, the feelings that a person experiences inside the space. In addition, Anastasia and Anna like similar items of collectible design, color combinations, stylistics.
“The idea of the stand was based on ‘the kitchen as inner workings of creating a design project’. Our goal was to place the viewer inside the creative process, and show what ingredients the designer’s work is made of. Therefore, we decided to conditionally divide the space into two parts: the creative right hemisphere and the well-ordered left hemisphere. We wanted to achieve an effect of a creative workshop, where the new masterpiece is created. In the ‘creative’ part of the stand, we focused on decorative solutions. For example, the metaphor of floating thought was embodied in an installation of paper sheets, and the process of creating a concept was depicted in drawings and sketches on the back wall of the stand. The left side was made more concise and structured, displaying the result of work on the design project in the form of a symmetrical layout of materials on the boards. We wanted to show that beautiful and creative doesn’t necessarily mean expensive,” the young designers reflect on their experience.
The stand was implemented together with partners. The ANTRO brutal, industrial-style kitchen island with natural slate facades and reinforced glass, produced by the Maria company (www.marya.ru), became the ideal product for the stand, designed to place visitors inside a creative space, making them part of the process of interior design, as well as to show that unique design is accessible to everyone.
