At the BATIMAT RUSSIA exhibition, artist and designer Kirill Ovchinnikov created the conceptual stand The Alchemist’s Parlour, where he presented his author’s wallpaper, ceramic tiles and sofa in Alchemy fabric, the Kirill Ovchinnikov collection. This is the first Russian brand to unite the high fine art and design.
“An artist is, in a way, an alchemist. He creates his amazing universes, opens new faces of the universe and is looking for the philosopher’s stone, which will bring happiness to everyone. Metaphorically philosopher’s stone is the highest goal, the subject of spiritual quest, an incomprehensible ideal”, the author of the project says. The color scheme became the unifying motive of the stand design. Rich colors allow you to recharge and give positive emotions. Wallpapers, fabrics, lamps, looking like chemical flasks – all items of the Alchemy collection are designed by Kirill Ovchinnikov and have no analogues. Kirill Ovchinnikov creates his fantastic reality. The items are distinguished by a unique manner and content, based on biblical and mythological scenes. Each story takes about a year of hard work. Every scene for the collection is painted in watercolor – this is the most delicate, vital and complex painting technique. Natural fiber paper, water, natural pigment, wooden stick and squirrel hair… The true alchemy.
The main focus of the stand was the Lemurs sofa with contrasting patterns, produced by KONEKS TRADE (www.koneks-trade.ru), using fabric created by Kirill Ovchinnikov’s design. The sofa draws attention, and the bright elements only emphasize this effect. Soft and comfortable, it looks even cozier on the background of laconic walls made of black burned wall panels MareinerHolz, Vulcano color (www.mareinerholz.at). The Lemurs sofa perfectly complemented this bright and unusual interior. The floor is laid with oak parquet flooring under the black oil RubioMonocoat / AustriaWood from Evropoly – wooden floors studio (www.evropoly.com). Laconic cabinet furniture creates a respectable image: Lemurs chest of drawers and chair, Bestiariy coffee table by Kirill Ovchinnikov (www.ko-gallery.com). The Bestiariy lamp by Kirill Ovchinnikov home gives special charm to the interior (www.ko-gallery.com). Ceramic tiles, porcelain plates, mirror – the collection of Kirill Ovchinnikov home (www.ko-gallery.com). Schneider Electric provided sockets and switches from the Sedna collection (www.se.com), which harmoniously fit into the concept. And Manders provided the Little Green paint (UK), Cape color (www.manders.ru).
