Ar the BATIMAT RUSSIA 2019 exhibition, an interior and product designer Natasha Shevchenko presented the author's stand named Flying. Here she for the first time demonstrated her FLYING FISH collection – a symbol of overcoming and self-confidence. Flying fish became the subject of several collections: tiles, lamps, furniture and decor items for the Italian factory L’Antica Deruta; radiators for the Russian factory Broner; sanitary ware for the Italian factory Artceram.
This is the case when product design begins with a beautiful idea and meaning. When a person is in a state of flow and radiates incredibly powerful energy. The philosophy of the FLYING FISH collection is very deep. It was born after the designer’s journey to the Shantar Islands, one of the most beautiful places in Russia. Everything is reflected here: nature, freedom, art… and harmony. In these fabulous fish flying out of the fishing nets, the person seeks to overcome himself and break free, overcoming all the stereotypes and conventions. Black and white. Dark and light, feminine and masculine, good and evil, active and passive. Neither one nor the other prevails, and none of them is the best – these two principles only in conjunction with each other form the harmony of nature and life.
“Born to crawl – can fly. Even fish can fly! People fly in their dreams. And it is magic! When a person is happy - he levitates. Someone feels butterflies flying in the stomach, and someone just dreams of flying to the stars. A dream… When you dream, it is beautiful! And you know, flying is a special feeling. A special, wonderful mood. The point is that the impossible is nothing”, Natasha Shevchenko says. “What is the modern style in the interior today? What is a personalized interior design that reflects the individuality of the client? I see it in the collaboration of trends, such as the traditional, timeless classic, combined with modern futuristic forms and magical art objects. The truly individual style of the modern interior is born only in balanced harmony of these components.”
The unique collection of FLYING FISH ceramics, produced by the Italian factory L'Antica Deruta by design of Natasha Shevchenko, and a collection of freestanding wash-basins under the same name together with the Artceram factory, as well as wall decor based on the FLYING FISH collection implemented by ITG were presented at the stand. The original Absolu sofa by EDRA, set to show at the stand, is equipped with “smart” cushions allowing you to model their shape. For this project, the Russian-French company Sofia-Decor has made decorative baroque-designed boiserie panels. The wooden floor by FINEX from the new author’s capsule collection “Shantar Island” became a bright accent of Natasha Shevchenko’s concept. The stand lighting is presented by the Russian innovative production company BEZHKO. An integral part of this interior was the designer mirror TV from the BURG & GLASS company.
