The spectacular interior in black was made by the architect Maria Romanova. She presented it as part of the Integrated Solutions exposition at BATIMAT RUSSIA 2019. Black is the color of the night, therefore, it is the most suitable color for the bedroom, which Maria mysteriously called The Dream of a Lace Maker.
“Black, black and black, a little light and weaving. There is a lot of it here. In the lace, on the walls, in the armchair. I enjoyed playing with 7 black textures, 15 shades of gray and ocher in satin on the bed, only golden strips of fragments with a width of A4 paper. Everyone enjoyed it, even strict male architects,” the author of the concept says.
“She is dreaming. She is in Venice. It’s night. She goes along the canals. The air and the black water waver. Light waves shimmer, weak lanterns light up ripples of water of all shades of gray, pearl, graphite and gold. Ancient walls are reflected in the water of canals and bizarre kinks. Everything is in a light theatrical haze. She sees herself in a wedding dress of Venetian lace. Someone calls her, she turns around. A hand is drawn out of the darkness to her, someone is holding an old lace glove: ‘...You have dropped it.’ She takes her glove from someone’s hand and wakes up…
...she is in an old Venetian hotel. Embers in the fireplace smolder. The lace curtain breathes the air of canals. A man is sitting in the large chair, silently, he points at the wall by a look. She follows his gaze. On the wall in the moire the outlines of a wedding dress of old Venetian lace can be seen. She wakes up again...
Was it a dream?"
Nowadays, in the age of modern technologies, artistic lace is highly valued. Gentle needle patterns of Kadom lace (Kadomsky veniz) at the head of the bed bring you to a fairy tale.
